Weeks ago, I was contact by a woman in Utah who was looking for a Boston photographer to donate a portrait session for some friends who had relocated to bring their baby boy to Children’s Hospital. Ryker is now just over four months old and has already had four major heart surgeries. Although it is incredibly long, I feel it’s important to spell out Rykers full diagnosis to show just what this amazing baby has been through. His specific medical diagnosis is…
Heterotaxy RAI (right atrial isomerism) with Asplenia, Right Dominant AtrioVentrical Canal (AVC), Total Anomalous Pulmonary Vein Return (TAPVR), Double Outlet Right Ventricle (DORV), Left-Sided Pulmonary Vein Stinosis (PVS), & Ventricular Discordance. He also has Heart Block, therefore he has an internal PaceMaker.
So Jay and Rachel Warner uprooted their family and brought Ryker to Children’s Hospital. Before Ryker goes in for his fifth major heart surgery, Rachel (a true photo buff) wanted to have a family portrait taken. I was honored to lend my skills. Luckily, Children’s Hospital has a lovely courtyard that we were able to utilize for the portraits. It was Ryker’s first time outdoors ever. You should have seen him looking around! I had a wonderful time with Rachel, Jay, Ryker and their four other gorgeous children Addisyn, Braylee, Jadd and Trett. We finished up with some personal shots of Rachel and Ryker in what has essentially become their home, Ryker’s hospital room.
Below, are some of the photos from that day. I hope they show was a beautiful and vibrant boy Ryker is and what a strong and brave family he has. If you’d like more information about Ryker and the Warner family, please visit their blog at http://miracleryker.blogspot.com/. And please send them your prayers and good wishes.

Seeing your family pictures and your wonderful kids and that “magical” little Ryker gives me the “spiritual food” I need every morning to get through some days! Thanks for being such great examples of love and strength and for having such a wonderful family that you are willing to share with the world! Ryker’s captured MANY MANY hearts all over the world I’m sure!

It is so nice to get away from the hustle and bustle of life, and read a beautiful story about someone. That is exactly what happened; I came across this blessing and favor that Nikki gave to the Warner family. I have only met Nikki once (Family of Praise photos) but I am not a bit surprised in her doing this for someone. Expect your bountiful blessings! My prayers and thoughts will always be with the Warner family. May God bless you!

My minister had some mountains to climb in his life, and during a sermon on a Sunday morning he said “God hits you hard when you have a lesson to learn about life and what is important”. This beautiful family is an example of this truth. These wonderful photos are proof. All things are possible with God.
